Product Features

Our HV PDUs can be tailored to meet your system architecture. A wide range of functions can be integrated to reduce footprint, wiring and system complexity.

Safety first. Our Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is built with integrated safety components, including an insulation monitoring device (IMD), high-voltage fuses, and safety relays. These components ensure continuous monitoring, rapid fault detection, and immediate system shutdown in case of insulation failures, overcurrent, or electrical faults, protecting both equipment and personnel at all times.

The PDU features a High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL), a critical safety system that monitors the integrity of all high-voltage connections. If a connector becomes improperly attached or disconnected, HVIL instantly disables the high-voltage circuits, preventing dangerous electrical exposure and ensuring maximum operational safety.

To prevent component damage from sudden inrush currents, the PDU incorporates a pre-charge circuit. This system carefully charges capacitors to the correct voltage before full power is applied, safeguarding sensitive electronics, increasing system lifespan, and enabling a controlled, reliable start-up.

The PDU uses CAN-bus communication to guarantee fast, secure, and reliable data exchange between all key system components. CAN integration allows for streamlined diagnostics, real-time monitoring, and effortless connectivity to motor controllers, batteries, and external monitoring systems.

Our PDU design includes reserved space for integrated Battery Management System (BMS) functions. This modular approach simplifies the overall system design, minimizes wiring complexity, and enables close communication between battery packs and the propulsion system for optimal performance and monitoring.

To meet diverse installation needs, the PDU supports a wide range of connector types. Whether you require customized battery connections, motor outputs, or auxiliary power interfaces, our flexible connector options ensure secure, reliable, and application-specific solutions.

Understanding STOK Systems

FAQ

A High Voltage Power Distribution Unit (PDU) safely distributes DC power between all major components of your electric propulsion system — including batteries, inverters, DC-DC converters, and chargers. It acts as the central hub, ensuring efficient power flow and reliable system operation on the water.

Unlike traditional systems where installers custom-build a distribution box for each project, our PDU is a standardised, ready-to-install solution. This drastically reduces installation time, simplifies integration, and improves system reliability, since the design is pre-engineered, tested, and proven in demanding applications.

Our PDUs are built for 48V up to 800VDC, making them compatible with both low-voltage and high-voltage electric systems. This wide voltage range allows for scalable setups, from small pleasure craft to large commercial vessels and ESS installations.

Yes — our PDU is designed with robust, water-resistant enclosures and marine-grade components, making it ideal for saltwater and harsh maritime conditions. Whether used in yachts, workboats, or ferries, it delivers long-term reliability at sea.

Absolutely. While it integrates perfectly with STOK Electric systems, the PDU is also available as a standalone unit, suitable for integration into custom setups — whether you’re building your own electric boat, ESS cabinet, or industrial EV system.

Yes — our PDU features a modular layout that can be tailored to your application. We offer custom configurations depending on the number of inputs/outputs, protection levels, and type of monitoring (e.g. shunts, current sensors, fuses, relays).

The unit includes fuse protection, interlock systems, insulation monitoring, and overvoltage/undervoltage protection. These features ensure safe operation of high-voltage electric systems on board, even in dynamic environments.

Yes — our PDU can be equipped with CAN-Bus communication, allowing for seamless integration with your vessel’s system controller or monitoring display. This enables remote diagnostics, error detection, and real-time power flow insight.

Definitely. The STOK Electric PDU is ESS-ready, making it suitable for land-based or hybrid marine battery storage setups where high-voltage DC switching and protection are needed.

Yes — our PDU is designed to be component-agnostic, meaning it works with a wide range of third-party batteries, inverters, and chargers, as long as they meet the appropriate electrical and communication standards.
