The Morris, called Grace Darling is a beautiful performance boat. No shortcuts we're taken to get the most out of this boat, carbonfiber everywhere. Yet it still had old, large and heavy AGM batteries installed. High time for another large weight saving.
A new Victron LFP system was installed using two 12V 200Ah batteries as well as a 50A charger. Charging the batteries goes much faster than before with using both the shore charger and the alternator. The alternator controller, which was already installed, was adjusted for the LFP batteries to ensure it wouldn't overheat. The batteries power the entire boat's electric system as well as the high performance, high speed winches.
